At Functional Medicine Center of the Carolinas, we look forward to becoming your partner in assessing and improving your health. Our practice is unique when compared to a traditional medical practice in that we do not operate as primary care providers; instead, as a consultative practice. We do not accept insurance and we are a fee-for-service provider.
Functional Medicine Center of the Carolinas was established by Daniel Rashid, MD and Analia Camarasa LN, CNS®, M.Sc., IFMCP. We firmly believe that food is medicine and that wellness, nutrition and health are deeply intertwined with one another. Our goal is give our patients the opportunity to find better health and fitness through these ideals. Together, through proper individualized nutrition, specialized laboratory evaluations, appropriate supplementation when needed, targeted therapeutic interventions, and lifestyle modification, we will get you on track to your ideal health state.
By changing the traditional disease-centered focus of the current medical system to a more patient-centered method, functional medicine seeks to address the root cause/s of a condition by focusing on the whole body as well as external factors, such as physical and social environments. We spend a lot of time with patients in order to truly know them. Hearing your story allows us understand the things that predispose them to illness, trigger reactions, and discover how your lifestyle may be perpetuating the conditions you are experiencing.
In our practice, our goal is to engage in a therapeutic relationship so our patients leave with tools that they can use for self-care, to restore balance to a complex system. In essence, we create a healthy ecosystem in the body whose by-product is health. Our practice works not only as a treatment of chronic or encompassing conditions but also as a preventative measure that will ensure you suffer far less in the future.
At this time, we have embraced technology and only see patients virtually, via video calls or phone. All communication is handled through our electronic health record system, which includes a robust patient portal. Inquiries, which can be sent through the patient portal, are generally responded to within 72 hours. We are not a primary care office or an urgent care/acute care facility. If you develop an emergent issue please see your primary care doctor, call 911, or go to your nearest emergency department.
We strive to provide as many people with exceptional functional medicine services. Our consultative functional medicine services are all ages, but we reserve the right to redirect you to other health practitioners if we feel you are not a fit for the business.
